The Scriptures call us to stewardship, and stewardship is so much more than the way we spend our money. It is that, but Genesis 1 teaches us that all our activities in this world are a matter of being good stewards of God's creation for his glory. This is one of the chief reasons why we seek to serve each other, since we are called to be stewards of all our resources (time, gifts, finances, etc) to serve the world around us and "seek the peace of the city." Yet it is also the reason why we would seek to care for the world around us and protect the environment in which we live.
